The girl in the aggressively 2000s poncho smiling with her third-grade class had no idea where writing would take her. But it turns out that getting your words out into the world is a dangerously addictive feeling. The kind that gives you enough blind ambition to turn it into a career making Super Bowl campaigns, meeting some of the smartest humans you know, and somehow ending up getting catapult-launched off an aircraft carrier.

But on March 25, 2005, the only thing this bright-eyed, bespectacled girl knew for certain was that she loved to write. Mostly because it got her picture in the local newspaper.
